Born and raised in Copenhagen, Mads Fridolin Vejlby is a cinematographer currently based in Los Angeles. He earned his MFA in cinematography from the American Film Institute Conservatory. 
Mads' work has been selected at festivals all over the world, including the Cannes Film Festival, FilmQuest, and DOC NYC. “Borders”, his visual essay and final production at AFI, screened at Tallgrass Film Festival and won the Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Short at the Awareness Film Festival in 2025. 
Prior to AFI, Mads studied documentary filmmaking at the Danish School of Media and Journalism before attending the Danish School of Art Photography Fatamorgana, where he developed his visual voice across both documentary, experimental and narrative work. A member of both the Danish Association of Cinematographers (DFF) and the Society of Camera Operators, Mads is passionate about important human stories that sparks reflection and conversation.
When Mads is not creating images, he enjoys swimming in the ocean and baking apple pies.
